Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles from the Lemon Leaves flower extract and their Antibacterial Activity

Abstract Silver nanoparticles were synthesized according to chemical reduction method but by using citrus limonum leaves (lemon leaves) extract. Silver nanoparticles are characterized by UV-Visible spectrometer, particle size analyser (PSA), and Scanning electron microscope (SEM). Further, the AgNPs showed an effective antibacterial activity toward pseudomonas and proteus by disk diffusion method. [Full Text: PDF]

Synthesis of Polymethylmethacrylate spheres covered with vanadyl phosphate, vanadium pentoxide and rhodamine-B for hydrogen sulfide capture

Abstract In this article it is reported the use of Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) spheres covered with vanadyl phosphate (PMMA-VP), vanadium pentoxide (PPMA-VO) and rhodamine-B (PMMA-RB) for hydrogen sulfide capture. The vanadyl phosphate, vanadium pentoxide and rhodamine The PMMA itself to not exhibits affinity towards hydrogen sulfide under the experimental conditions employed in the present work. The […]

Determination of fatty acid compositions of total lipid, phospholipid and triacylglycerol fractions of aboveground parts of four species of the genus Hyoscyamus

Abstract Nine different FAs were identified in TL, TG and PL fractions. The major FAs of TL, TG, PL in all Hyoscyamus species were C16:0 (palmitic acid, PA), C18:1 n−9 (oleic acid, OLA), C18:2 n−6 (linoleic acid, LA) and C18:3 n−3 (linolenic acid, ALA). Fatty acids composition range was as follows: saturated fatty acids (SFAs) […]

Physico-chemical Evaluation of Selected Bottle Waters Produced in Nnewi North Metropolis, Nigeria

Abstract Evaluation of physic-chemical characteristics of water quality of some bottle waters produced in Nnewi-North metropolis was carried out with the intent of establishing the portability and quality of these bottle water supplied to the public. Water samples were purchased from those shops around Nkwo Nnewi  and Okpunoegbu. The physico-chemical parameters were analyzed using various […]

Ion-exchange synthesis of Cr (III), Co(II) and Hg(I) doped dolomite for H2S capture

Abstract In the present work, Cr (III), Co(II) and Hg(I) doped dolomite are employed as H2S capture agents. The X-ray diffractions pattern shows that nor the doping process neither the H2S capture have affected the nanostructure of dolomite.  The gravimetric obtained results for hydrogen sulfide capture are: 2.4 mg/g (DOL-Cr), 8.8 mg/g (DOL-Co), and 2.4 […]

Study on the Effect of Titanium (IV) oxide as Coupling Agent on the Mechanical Properties of Magnesium hydroxide Filled HDPE/EVA Composites

Abstract In the present work the effect of treatment of Titanate (IV) oxide as coupling agent on Magnesium hydroxide filled Ethylene Vinyl-Acetate Copolymer (EVA) and High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) as a matrix has been studied.  Tensile properties and surface properties were compared and investigated by using a universal testing machine and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) […]

Vaporization and Gaseous Phase Formation Enthalpies for 4-Nitrobenzyl alcohol by Quantum Chemistry Composite and Semi-empirical Methods

Abstract In the present work it is presented, for the first time, the standard gaseous formation enthalpy and the vaporization enthalpy for 4-Nitrobenzyl alcohol. Such thermochemical data wereobtained  byquantum chemistry composite and semi-empirical methods, as well as experimental data from literature. The ΔfHm0 (g) and ΔvapHm0 values (kJ mol-1) are 115.07 ± 0.73 and 66.43 […]

Study on Oil Extraction from Citrullus lanatus (C. lanatus) Oilseed and Its Statistical Analysis: A Case of Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN)

Abstract In this work, optimization of oil extraction from the Citrullus lanatus (C. lanatus) seed was carried out. To determine the qualities of the oil, physiochemical properties of the oil was also carried out. This was with a view to add value to C. lanatus oil and finding environmentally friendly alternative to conventional oil. Optimization […]

Comparative study of Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) on Oil Extraction from Citrus sinensis Oilseed and Its Quality Characterization

Abstract In this work, optimization of oil extraction from the Citrussinensis (C. sinensis) oilseed was carried out. The physiochemical properties of the seed oil were determined for its aptness for industrial application. This was with a view to add value to C. sinensis oil and finding environmentally friendly alternative to conventional oil. sinensis oil seed […]
